You have more ideas than your life can hold.
The Capacity Ledger is a guided workbook for choosing what to give the season ahead, and what you can set down.
Everything is still open.
A business you might start. A body of work you might make. A skill you want to learn. Each one matters to you. Each one needs time. You might have five available hours in a week and plans that need seventeen. Meanwhile, the ideas stay open, making a quiet claim on a week that was already full. When a little time appears, you spend some of it deciding which one deserves it. The Capacity Ledger gives you a place to account for those commitments and make a choice.
Some seasons are for holding.
You may finish this workbook and decide that this is a season for caring for what you already carry. There's a path for that. The work is finding out what your life can hold before you promise another twelve weeks to something.
For a long time I thought the problem was me. That I needed more discipline, or a better system, or whatever it is other people apparently have. Then I started counting the hours instead of judging myself for not using them well.
— Serena
Four sittings. A pen. One signed decision.
You work through four sections:
One — Inventory
Bring your ideas, commitments, and unfinished plans onto the page, where you can see them together.
Two — The Capacity Ledger
Account for the hours and energy available in an ordinary week, including what already uses them.
Three — Release
Decide what to shelve and what to set down.
Four — The Choice
Write and sign your decision for the season ahead: what you'll give your available time to, or what you'll continue to hold.
What you leave with
A written decision about the season ahead.
A record of what you've shelved or released, so you can return to the decision when those ideas ask for your attention again.
A place to begin twelve weeks of putting that decision into practice.
If you've started things like this before
The workbook is designed to be completed over a few sittings. You can spread those out to suit your life. If you put it down for three weeks, you can return to the page where you stopped.
Twelve weekly Season Letters
Both editions include twelve weekly letters. You activate the email sequence when you're ready to begin your season. The letters accompany the weeks after your decision — the ordinary weeks when you're living with what you chose.
Who it's for
The Capacity Ledger is for people with several things they care about and limited time to give them. You may be choosing among creative projects, business ideas, things to learn, or commitments you've carried for years. You may also be working out whether you have room to begin something at all. The workbook helps you make that decision before you build another plan around it.
This may not be the right time if:
— You already know what you're working on and want help moving faster
— You're looking for a daily planner or a habit tracker
— You're hoping to find a way to keep all of it
